Therra Keeta HEALTHCARE CENTRE

THERRA KEETA HEALTHCARE established in 2007 consists of a team of dedicated and committed professionals, who have come together to provide excellent healing through therapy.

Our services include occupational therapy and physiotherapy services. Our aim is at not just life, but "Quality Life" for the patients and the family. Our Therapists and practitioners provide holistic care of the patient taking into account the physical, mental, spiritual and psychological aspects of a patient's recovery.

The therapeutic exercises provide help in regaining functional independence. Aids and adaptive devices are suggested. Environmental modifications are incorporated to facilitate recovery.

For patients who have to live with a permanent disability, vocational evaluation and guidance are provided. Liaison with other team members helps to cover a wider arena of problems for the patients. Therapists help in effective reintegration of patients within the society.

Our experienced team come from diverse multicultural backgrounds and have worked in a variety of settings including local hospitals. Our therapy programs are tailored to meet the individual needs of the patient. We believe that caregiver involvement in therapy sessions is critical to the success of the patient's therapy program.

Our therapists have specific expertise in rehabilitation of Body Biomechanics/Ergonomics i.e.: back, neck, shoulder, knee and feet conditions. They treat various age groups (Infant, kids, teenagers, adolescents and elderly) and our patients are at much ease with our caring and readily approachable therapists.

WHAT IS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY?

Occupational therapy is a health and rehabilitation profession that helps people regain, develop and build skills that are importnat for independent functioning, health, well-being, security and happiness

The therapist or the practitioners work with people of all ages who, because of illness, injury, or developmental or psychological impairment, need specialized assistance in learning skills to enable them to lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives.

With proper consultations and action plan between therapist and patient, an occupational therapy can prevent injury or the worsening of existing conditions or disabilities and it promotes independent functioning in individuals who may otherwise require institutionalization or other long-term care.

Because of this, occupational therapy keeps health care costs down and maximizes the quality of life for the individual, their family, and other caregivers

Some people do need Occupational Therapy (OT), the reason is...

  • People's ability to perform their every day tasks may be affected by an illness, accident, injury or the process of aging.
  • Occupational Therapists help people develop and maintain their skills to carry out their everyday tasks or "occupations".
  • These may include self care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding), household and community (cooking, cleaning, shopping), work/school, and leisure/recreational activities.
  • Being able to participate in these everyday tasks helps people fulfil their roles such as worker, parent, spouse, sibling and friend.

How do Occupational Therapists work?

Meeting patients' needs usually involves 3 steps:-

STAGE 1 : EVALUATION

The abilities and skills of the patient are assessed including their overall ability to perform relevant everyday tasks. This is done while taking into account the patient's family and social situation, general lifestyle, cultural background, home environment and most importantly the patient's future goals

STAGE 2 : CONSULTATION

To develop a treatment programme, the Occupational Therapist talks with the patient, family members and other professionals who may be closely involved.

STAGE 3 : TREATMENT

The goal is to maximise the patient's skills for living and overall ability to participate in their everyday tasks and life roles. The above activities may take place in the hospital ward, the OT Department, at the patient's home or on visits into other community settings
